State Tool Integration Manage Packages " Could not retrieve authentication"

Hello,
I have migrated to a native Linux host Ubuntu 20.04 and Komodo / State tool integration works much better than in Windows.
I received the Glib startup error that does not seem to impact using Komodo.
GLib-CRITICAL **: 08:39:56.254: g_slice_set_config: assertion ‘sys_page_size == 0’ failed
I received the Padwalker warning. I attempted to use the State Tool Menu Manage Packages feature and received a
“Could not retrieve authentication…Komodo if this problem persists” The screenshot below depicts the Komodo session.

Hey @wblake, I see a LOT of ssl cert errors which is a known issues (because Komodo is so old). There is a workaround here for that: [2021-11-24 15:49:45,323] [ERROR] console-logger: community.komodoide.com:443 uses an invalid security certificate - Support - Komodo IDE & Edit | Forums

Give that workaround a try and see if that helps.

I did already proceed through the steps to import the certificate. I could then misremember that the State Tool integration was working at one point. AFAIR the only change I made was to create a Komodo project to coincide with the ActiveState Platform Project.

Huh, but you opened this thread stating that you’ve moved to a totally new development environment, so any fixes you made in the old one shouldn’t be there. Is that not the case? You were on a Windows machine before and are now on a Linux machine, correct?

The new Native Linux Ubuntu 20.04 environment installed an ActiveState platform project via the platform project Web page install script curl command. The platform project previously ran from a WSL2 Ubuntu 20.04 environment.
I then started Komodo on the native Linux Ubuntu environment and at first the platform / Komodo integration seemed to work fine: the Komodo ActiveState menu showed the expected command options without an exclamation point or any script failure notifications in the notification status output area.
I then opened a few files (perl, csv) in Komodo and created a new Komodo project. After exiting Komodo and later restarting Komodo with the recently created Komodo project, the platform/ Komodo Integration fails with the errors shown in the screenshots from the original post on this thread and the log file results pasted.

Thanks again for the help.
I started over with a new Komodo Project and now platform integration with Komodo seems fine.
This time I did not initially activate the platform project prior to starting Komodo.
Using the ActiveState menu Manage Packages selection still results in the notification message “could not retrieve authentication information. Please restart Komodo if this problem persists.”

I need to clarify this. What do you mean by “native linux”? Did you install Linux on a computer. So am I correct when I said you went from a Windows computer to a totally new computer that had never run Komodo?

So something is wrong there. I can’t be sure what, but you don’t seem to have the right cert installed. You might want to dig into that as much in Komodo will be broken due to this issue.

Alright well I have tried several combinations of steps to get Komodo and the State Tool working together and still the result has the authentication error above, path errors for shell and xterm, and failed activation of the State Tool project.

I will power cycle Linux, uninstall and re-install Komodo to attempt to have a fresh start. Failing that I will remove the cached State Tool projects and then uninstall and re-install the State Tool.

Sorry to be a pain but this doesn’t help me help you. Did you try the steps suggested in the post I shared? If you did, how did you perform them? What settings did you add/edit/remove? I have to ask these things because perhaps, though you did the work, maybe you didn’t quite set something properly. I can’t be sure.

What I do know is that that post should have solved at least one of your issues. If you’re still getting that xterm error then it’s very possible you didn’t do the workaround properly. Please share more detail. I know we’ve found that you’re environment was misconfigured a few times before so I’m leaning towards that for the xterm issue.

On the xterm issue, I could determine from the link provided that the Environment PATH variable might be worng.
On review in Komodo, the Environment PATH seemed unremarkable except for the State project cache -added multiple times. My only edit came to add the Komodo bin subdirectory to the path right after installing Komodo according to my understanding of the Linux install instructions.

I activate the platform project, then start komodo from the resulting shell.

I then create a Komodo project expecting it to pickup the local activestate.yaml file which it does but then error messages follow including “could not retrieve authorization” or “no supported terminal was found” or “cannot load scripts from activestate.yaml.”

In order to demonstrate the configuration I have I will screen record two entire sessions and provide links to them. My Linux host remains Ubuntu 20.04. I have installed ActiveState State tool using the install curl one line script pasted from the Platform Website Project. I have downloaded the Komodo tarfile, expanded it and installed via install.sh. I have added the certificate to Komodo as described.
Sessions.

Session1. From Bash, activating the state project, starting Komodo, and then from within Komodo creating a new Komodo project in the directory with the activestate.yaml file. Errors here include “Could not retrieve authentication” and the xterm error.

Thanks for all that digging and info!

So every issue you’re pointing out leads back to the xterm issue because if Komodo can’t run terminal sessions then it can’t run the state tool. I’m 99% sure that if you resolve that the other issues will go away.

So we need to figure out what’s missing there. I would do the following:

Determine what shell you’re using to start Komodo. I THINK the following should tell you: echo $SHELL. That should print the path to the shell program you’re using
Confirm the above by running which and the binary found above and see that it is actually there
Start Komodo from your shell as you have been doing
Open you preferences in Komodo and confirm that you PATH hasn’t changes to remove the folder where your shell is installed.
Check that the $SHELL variable wasn’t changed in your Komodo preferences

The hardest part of the documentation was copying over the screen recordings to a Windows TinyTake system because I could not attach them to this thread.
I can likely update to Ubuntu 22.04 if it helps. Under WSL2 I had trouble with Ubuntu 22.04 and Perl 5.36 so I opted to install 20.04.
