I found Komodo Edit Nightly 8.5.4 Build 14328 could not update to latest version,
Version 8.5.4 Build 14370.
I found the similar problem in the past, but it solved by itself few days later.
The current problem was started from few weeks ago (maybe more than one month), so I decide to make this report.
If I recall correctly there is an issue with the Windows installer not wanting to install to an existing directory. If you uninstall Komodo first (your settings will be preserved) or install to a different directory then things should work properly.
I’m mainly a Linux/Mac guy myself though, @mook or @toddw will probably be able to shed more light on this (if necessary).
Hmm. But the update doesn’t actually involve the windows installer at all (which is a bug in itself, since it doesn’t update the entry in the Add/Remove Programs control panel, for example).
Been getting a few reports, though, and that needs @toddw love.
Someone already reported this already, that someone being me. A few people have been posting that updates aren’t working for Edit both for Windows, Linux and Mac, though I originally only reported it for Mac…
I don’t think it has to do with the “existing folder” or else an update would never work.
The XML has an element named <.update.> and take a look at the attribute “status” value. All above valued “succeeded” while at this point the value is “Failed (unknown reason)”. And when I check the “detailsURL” attribute, it returned error 404.
Is this the case ? Clearly, I don’t know. I just wanna help as best I can.
I believe that’s just telling us what we already know, that the update failed for an unknown reason. Could you try manually installing the latest Komodo Nightly and see if the issue persist with the next updates?
