How to stop komodo ide screen "take over"?

I use Komodo IDE, version 8.5.4, build 86985, platform linux-x86 and when it starts it takes over everything else on my screen. Even if I click another window so it’s now in the background it will then take over the screen again.

How can I get it to just start up silently in the background?

Did you accidentally instruct your window manager to pin it on top or something? Komodo has no functionality that would do this.
